Bear Mountain first got together in 1970, With Ken McKenzie, Al Bernadis, Bruce (Fugi) Robert, Mark Germana and Jim Burke. They played locally for a couple of years in Western Mass.
Andy Wesolowski joined the band in 1972, followed by Joe Lucey in 1974 and Fiddling Dick Paquette in 1975. In 1976 Paul Carriveau replaced Joe Lucey when Joe became seriously ill.
Over the years, they were basically a country rock band. 1979 saw the untimely passing of Fiddling Dick, and the band changed direction into Southern Rock.
The band worked with several guitarists and drummers, most notably Bryant Pope, Glen Brady, Pete Bara and Jeff Alamed, now with the band Diamond Back.
Their current drummer is Frank Cmara.
Bob Cayo was originally in the band from 1990 to 1994 . Mac, Paul and Andy stayed together for about 35 years with Mac moving to Colorado in 2007. The band traveled throughout New England during their career and opened for many big named acts including: Charlie Daniels (twice), Les Dudek, Harry Chapin, Country Joe and the Fish, Papa John Creach, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (twice), Marshall Tucker, Henry Gross, Doc Watson, Flying Burrito Brothers, NRBQ (several times), Highway 101, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Molly Hatchet (twice), Travis Tritt, Earl Scruggs, and Jonathan Edwards. They were joined on stage by Charlie Daniels playing guitar at Stage West, Ct. At the Center of Town in Chicopee, Junior Wells took the stage with them to play the harp.
The current line-up is Paul Carriveau, Andy Wesolowski, Bob Cayo, Rick Orr and Frank Cmara.
