Balkun Brothers is an American rock band formed in Hartford, CT in 2010 by brothers Nick and Steve Balkun. The band brings a raw and energetic personality that is new and fresh to the blues and rock musical genres. The group’s style primarily consists of rock with an emphasis on blues, funk, as well as elements from other genres such as punk rock, psychedelic rock, and delta blues. Their live show incorporates many aspects of jam bands due to the improvised nature of much of their performances. Currently, the band consists of founding members Steve Balkun (guitar/vocals), Caleb “Dr. Jiggles” Battersby (bass/vocals), and Nick “The Hammer” Balkun (drums/percussion/vocals). The band is often joined by various other musicians live and in the studio. Balkun Brothers were voted the ‘Best Blues Band In Connecticut’ two years in a row, in both 2013 and 2014 by CT.com and the Connecticut Music Awards and the band was nominated in 3 categories in 2013 and 5 categories in 2014 at the Connecticut Music Awards. The band is one of New England’s premier blues-rock groups and their debut studio EP ‘God Bless Our Fallout Shelter’ was nominated for album of the year along with the first single ‘Control Yourself’ for song of the year at the 2014 CTMA’s.

Balkun Brothers is highly influenced by artists such as The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Led Zeppelin, Gary Clark Jr., Buddy Guy, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
