Northampton is full of great musicians and fun bands that can jam out hard. Add Mammal Dap to this list. Featuring some of the area’s best young musicians, they bring the groove with their original jazz-rock compositions that will get you moving.
Mammal Dap has got four heavyweight players in the jam: Colin Jalbert brings hard-hitting rhythms with a flair for syncopation. Bassist Rhees Williams is fun to watch, and also plays some some real deep bass stuff on the keys. They layer on top of the rhythmic core with keyboardist Zack Cross and guitarist Killian Karlsson, who bring fun improvisations and fill out the sound.
This is one of those bands where you can watch any single player and be thoroughly entertained. They’ve got a great five-song E.P. entitled “5lbs. High5”, available for download on Bandcamp. They continue to write new material, and appear to be headed for big things here in Western Mass.
