Fresh Chef Saturday’s is a unique dining experience that takes place at The Arts Block every Saturday durning the Greenfield Farmers Market. A new Chef is selected for each week to come up with a small brunch menu that represents who they are in some way. A fresh new menu they create using some local ingredients that most likely come from the Farmers Market.
Our chef this week is Peter Hadley, a Greenfield resident who has cooked at establishments across the Pioneer Valley, Cape Cod, and in the Boston area.
His passion for cooking started young. His mother was a great baker, but she was often very busy. When he found himself cooking meals for the family, he realized that he was a natural in the kitchen and was hooked.
Peter’s career in the culinary world started as a baker in the Amherst/Northampton area in the early 80s. He left the area to start working for a catering company in Quincy where his passion increased as he continued to learn more. As a caterer, Peter has had the opportunity to try many different styles of cooking, leading to a very eclectic palate.
n his opinion, food is an art form and the ingredients are his medium. Outside of cooking, Peter is an outdoorsman. He enjoys hiking, swimming and bird watching. He and his partner had a small farm in Brewster, Mass. that raised meat and vegetables. As a gardener and naturalist, Peter tries to go organic and local as much as possible in his cooking.
